Management team


The Executive consists of the Directors, the General Manager, Corporate Services, the General Manager, Operations and the General Superintendent.

Jo Friedrichs—General Manager, Corporate Services

Jo has over 10 years’ human resources experience, specialising in HR transformation and change management. She has strong expertise in project management, employee attraction and retention, performance management, training and development and employment law. Jo is responsible for setting the strategic direction, aligned to the Leed strategy, and managing the day to day operations of Leed’s Corporate Services department.

Leigh Sutherland—General Superintendent

Leigh has more than 25 years’ experience in the supervision of major civil infrastructure projects. He has worked for various authorities throughout Australia and has been with Leed since its inception. He has the ability to analyse construction techniques and methodologies to identify the most suitable and cost-effective solutions for clients.

Paul Teakle—General Manager, Operations

Paul has over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry and is highly skilled in managing complex projects. Whether the project entails major earthworks and pavements, mining, or the construction of structures and services, Paul’s liaison with stakeholders and strong leadership of the team contributes to outstanding project outcomes.

Senior managers

Clive Conway—Submissions Manager

Clive is a communications specialist with more than 25 years’ experience in the design, writing and delivery of tenders, technical documentation and corporate communications, on paper and on-line. He has delivered projects for leading private and public sector organisations in Australia, the Asia Pacific, Europe, South Africa and the Middle East.

Martin Dry—Estimating Manager (Central)

Martin has over 30 years’ experience as an Estimator and Quantity Surveyor, both in the UK and Australia, and as a Managing Estimator for the past 10 years responsible for all administration duties and general management of a civil Estimating Office, including supervision and evaluation of estimates prepared by other staff.

Anthony Elder—Engineering Manager (Central)

Anthony has over 10 years’ experience in the design, management and delivery of civil infrastructure projects through direct award, design and construct and alliance delivery models. He contributes engineering and construction expertise to the Project Acquisition team. Anthony was SA’s Young Professional Engineer of the Year in 2010.

Christian Fraser—Estimating Manager (Eastern)

Christian has almost 15 years’ experience in facilitating the design and construction of civil infrastructure as a Project Engineer and Managing Estimator. He holds an Honours degree in Civil Engineering and is responsible for the management of Leed’s Eastern Business Unit estimating team.

Mike Hargreaves—Process Manager

Michael has more than 25 years’ experience in the delivery of water and wastewater projects in Australia and the UK coupled with exceptional project management skills. As Leed's Process Manager he is responsible for managing the mechanical and electrical aspects of Leed projects involving water and wastewater treatment and reuse water schemes.

Jason Mitchell—Construction Manager (Central)

Jason is a Mechanical Engineer with more than 12 years' experience in the design, specification and construction of pipelines and pump stations for water supply, wastewater and irrigation projects of all sizes. As Construction Manager, Jason oversees the construction aspects of projects for Leed's Central region.

Mike Quinn—Asset Manager

Mike has over 35 years’ experience in the civil construction and mining industries. For the last 6 years he has been responsible for managing Leed’s sister company GMA Corporation which supplies plant and equipment to Leed. Mike oversees fleet management, service support and the coordination and scheduling of company hire and contract operations.

Craig Watkin—AIS Manager

Craig has more than 30 years’ experience in the construction industry and has undertaken a diverse range of complex infrastructure projects around Australia. He has extensive experience in the construction and maintenance of major pipelines, making him ideally placed to manage Leed’s new Asset Intelligence Solutions (AIS) department.
